Don't Believe The Lies

Please take the time to check out all of the sites on the right here.
They will serve you better than anything you're going to get from the mainstream media. If you care about the truth and issues of real importance then this is what you're after! They have been my savour at work recently, whilst BBC news 24 is on the TV. Crazy to see how differently the same events can be portrayed!
These are just a few I've found, if you know of any other decent sites let me know!

We believe what we see through our eyes.
We believe what we see in our minds.
We believe what's put in front of our eyes.
We believe the lies.

Big cheese, Punktastic & Celebration

A couple of cool things have happened for Overthrow in the last week.

We are in the latest issue of Big Cheese magazine in the new bands section, and our track Roll Of The Dice made it onto the CD, free with every copy, along with bands like Slipknot, The Gaslight Anthem and Cancer Bats! This is really great as it's the first time we've graced the pages of a magazine! If you are interested in grabbing yourself a copy it's available at most HMV's and WHSmiths, or from
www.bigcheesemagazine.com

Also Paul from Punktastic gave a more than glowing review of our new EP "So Much Power, So Little Time", and you can check that out over at
www.punktastic.com/reviews/3137

Christmas. It's scary how blindly commited people are to upholding the traditional of Christmas. A celebration originating from a religious event many don't even believe in, and one that certainly isnt relevant or portrayed in the Coca Cola christmases we witness nowadays. The modern festive season is merely a celebration of the overwhelming power of consumerism and the media to sell sell sell while we suck it all up.
I don't want to be negative though. It's great to see family and friends and eat nice food and drink lots and be generous and give the ones we love things that they love. But do we really need a corrupt religious/consumer driven holiday to embrace all the positives?
Tradition holds us back from progression.

That said, I hope everyone has had a great year, and let's celebrate that and all that is good on Wed by getting merry/messy!x

The Beginning

Hello!
My name is Sam Hopper and I'm in a band called Overthrow.
I have started this blog as an honest attempt to talk to/get to know people who may like our band! I'm not trying to put myself on a pedestal, thinking that hundreds of people care what I have to say or will even look at this. But I don't like the idea of a division between bands and "fans" (be that a singular friend who likes your music because they have to, or millions of people all over the world who idolise you and love your band!) So this blog is a place for me, and anyone who wishes to talk with me, to discuss anything and everything, be it band related or not!
Let's see how it goes.
Take it easy.
