TWIX!

It was a good week of gigs last week. On thursday we went to see Frank Turner at New Slang in Kingston. He played an acoustic set and it was fucking amazing. I hadn't really noticed because it had happened subtley in my subconscieous, but after I was so dissappointed by his new album he seemed to have slipped drastically in my estimations. Seeing him live reminded me of everything I love about him. Simple, melodic, passionate songs about subjects that really seem to connect, and a humble approach to shows and interaction with the crowd. His honest and open blog was also one of the reasons I started my own, as it really feels like you get to know him, and it removes the barrier between the artist and fans, any egotism or stigma created, and keep everyone on an even keel. So yea, a great night, and the pints were only £1.70, and the gig was only a fiver and they played a fuck load of shitty IIIIINNDDIIIIEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Friday night we went to see GLASSJAW! A rare treat to say the least. They're an awesome and influential band. It was great to finally see them, and they didn't disappoint. They played a good mixture of everything and the new songs sounded good. They've had a new drummer, and they only have one guitarist nowadays, but it didn't sound lacking at all.

On saturday afternoon we went to a free gig at the Boileroom. Talons were the second band and they were pretty fat. I don't know how they describe themselves, but I guess they're an alt/prog rock band with 2 violins! String takedown. Also playing was Toby the singer from Meet Me In St Louis. He did an acoustic set which was pretty good though a little bland. Just made me want to listen to MMISL.

Will's worked out Overthrow's finances for this year, and it's going to be an expensive year, though hopefully a good one! We've just confirmed a week of recording with producer James Kenosha at this dream station in March! So we're hard at work preparing song for the recording right now. Aiming to do another 6 track EP. Adam's learnt the set quickly which is great. We're now ready to gig again and working on new songs for the EP. Can't wait to get gigging again!
